Beauty of a Chained Heart

Lonely heart held tight in grips of past love,
pulses slowly in its chains.
Never beats on its own, prays for freedom.

Waits. Listens.
Wishes for release and a touch not yet felt
to grace this longest solitude.

Innocent heart un-swept by heavy, tempting love—
delicate and open,
vulnerable in hope.

Searches, wants.
Untainted, unafraid of future promises
Broken or kept.

A beautiful heart once caught in webs of spells and lust
now finds truth in mornings
of dust and dew.

Wakes with a fierce drumming,
a single note rung whole.
Gazes inward for virtue.
